Greater Kitsap
“Greater Kitsap” is the southernmost part of the Kitsap Peninsula, the area that is located in Mason and Pierce counties rather than in Kitsap County. It includes Gig Harbor, Fox Island, Belfair, Tahuya, and the Key Peninsula.
Gig Harbor, known as ‘The Maritime City’ is one of several cities and towns that is a gateway to the Olympic Peninsula. Due to its close access to several state and city parks, and its historic waterfront that includes boutiques and fine dining, it is a popular tourist destination.
Belfair is located at the mouth of the Union River and at the tail end of Hood Canal, and it serves as the commercial center of north Mason County. The population of the surrounding area swells in the summertime as tourists and nature lovers flock to the Canal and the Olympic Peninsula.
